We are often asked to provide cost information for arranging certification. The relevant fees are listed below to give you a clear overview. These fees are set by federal law and are the same throughout Germany, so it is not worth obtaining quotes from several notaries.
| Certification of a copy | up to 10 pages: € 10, from the 11th page: €1 per page |
| Certification of a signature (without draft, review, or advice from the notary) | Depending on the value of the item, between €20 and €70. The maximum fee of €70 is charged for values over €140,000. You can calculate the costs here (enter 0.2 for the fee rate). |
| Exception: Consent to the deletion of a land charge or confirmation of a WEG protocol: € 20 (regardless of value) | |
| Additional costs for a notarial certificate of representation (e.g., due to inspection of the commercial register) | € 15 for each relevant register page |
| Additional fee for a certification note in another language (the language of the certified declaration is irrelevant) | Surcharge of 30% of the certification fee |
| Surcharge for obtaining an apostille/additional certification | €25 (plus the fees of the apostille/legalization itself by the court , which also amount to €25) |
| Surcharge for the notary to send your declaration to a third party | 20 € |
| Postage costs, typing costs, if applicable | depending on the specific effort involved |
| Surcharge for appointments outside our office | €50 for each half hour of absence, plus travel expenses, if applicable |
| statutory value added tax | 19% of the total amount |
| Fee for entry in the Central Document Collection | €2.50 (only for certification of a signature) |
When certifying a signature, the fee depends on the value of the relevant declaration, as shown above. We will need information from you for this purpose; or we may have to estimate the value. If the declaration is the approval of a contract certified elsewhere or a declaration drafted by another legal advisor, the advisor who drafted the text will inform you of the "value".
The following examples may help:
- Purchase agreement (e.g., for a vehicle): The value is the purchase price
- Power of attorney to conclude a purchase agreement: The value is half of the purchase price
- Subsequent approval of a document: The value is half of the value of the document.
- No economic value (e.g., travel authorization for a child): value is € 5,000 (fee € 20)
- Power of attorney of a co-heir to dispose of estate assets: value is half of the value of the inheritance share
- Renunciation of an inheritance with no value (or which is insolvent): € 0 (fee € 20)
Please note that the above fees do not apply if we draft, review, or advise on a declaration. In such cases, we ask that you inquire about the fees separately in advance, as they may differ significantly from the above rates and the cap at €70 does not apply.
